The Rinseless Wash

As many of you already know, washing your car can be a really fun and rewarding experience. Some of us wash our cars to relieve stress and others may do it because we are clean freaks! Whatever the reason, washing and protecting your car with a wax or sealant is vital to the health and longevity of your cars exterior.

At JGK, it's our business to clean cars. But we also happen to love it!

For those of you who aren't car nuts, there is a method to washing and protecting your car that is not as daunting as it may seem. It is called the "Rinse-less Wash" and it is one of the easiest and most effective methods to attaining a clean bill of health for your car.

With so many car cleaning brands on the market, sometimes it is hard to wrap your head around which products will work best for your car. Here at JGK Detail, we swear by this product which has made our jobs 10x easier (and it can do the same for you!). The product is called Optimum No Rinse and it allows you to clean the exterior of your car with just a bucket of water, a wash mitt or sponge, towels, and just a few drops of the product (which is also known as ONR). For an added layer of protection, we use Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax which is a cleaning and protecting solution all in one. Keep in mind, we are not here to promote this specific product, but rather the method this product employs. There are other great products out there which do the same thing, but because we love this one so much, we'll keep hyping it up!

So, for the methodology. All you need to do is a fill up a bucket of water and pour in 1 oz. of ONR for every 2 gallons of water. Conveniently enough, the cap on ONR bottles is .5 oz, so if you have 2 gallons of water all you need to do is add 2 caps worth of ONR. Most buckets out there are 5 gallons, so if that's the case for you, we suggest you fill your bucket up to 80% and then add 4 caps of ONR. Then you soak your wash mitt in the solution, wring it out until there is a light drip, and start wiping down your car panel by panel (including windows).

Supplies needed for a rinseless wash include: Rinseless wash solution (ONR), two buckets (one for the solution and one with water to rinse wash mitt) and your wash mitt. Also needed but not pictured: towels.

After you've done each panel, all you have to do is dry it off with a towel! It's as easy as that! You will be shocked by the level of clean and shine that this product creates. It's a whole new way of cleaning your car that doesn't require you to wildly spray your hose and waste gallons of water (although we admit, sometimes that is fun)!

For the wheels you can use your ONR solution with brushes or wheel woolies (pictured below) to get into those tight spots. Again, just soak your brush or woolie in the solution, agitate the dirt by scrubbing the rim and then simply dry off!

As a mobile detailing operation, this method is vital to our success and efficiency in every job that we perform. Our prep time is massively decreased because we have the ability to pull up to our clients cars with our ONR solution already prepared. This allows us to wash the car quickly and leave enough time to complete the entire package. To learn more about the methods you can use to clean and protect your car, feel free to reach out to us and tell us a little bit about your vehicle. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have if it means one more clean car on the road!
